Summer Home Tour 2016

SummerHome6

Hello and welcome to our home. I am so grateful to have you here joining us! I am excited to be sharing our sweet little place ready for the summer months ahead! These months are filled with long days, warm nights and many delicious barbecues… A big thank you to our hosts, Nina from Nina Hendrick along with Birch Lane and Country Living Magazine. I am also joining 29 other talented friends who are opening up their beautiful homes (you can find the entire listed tour at the bottom of this post). In addition, Birch Lane provided me with a gift card for this tour and as always, all opinions are truly my own. (The woven Gladys pillow cover and striped Sybil pillow cover pictured above can both be found at Birch Lane).

So here we go…I am starting my tour today at the back entrance of our house and finishing it at the front door this time. If you have visited our home before (maybe here, here, or here) then you may recognize our spacious sunroom.

summerhome21

This is my favorite room because of all the natural light that floods in. In my humble opinion, this room was just made for summer…

SummerHome9

I have kept accessories simple and the foliage to lots of summer greens.

SummerHome2

Indigo blues and denim now line our couch like this fun sized Malia pillow cover from Birch Lane.

SummerHome7

I used lots of white (my favorite neutral) with vases and, of course, more pillows!

SummerHome15

As you look across from our large sofa sectional (slipcover info here), you will gaze into our dining room. I recently sewed these linen covers for our accent chairs; they give a relaxed and subtle feel to the room. Linen and summer go hand in hand…

summerhome17

Our dining table is set with a simple, thrifted weathered basket. This makes dinner table prep quick and easy – less to move around and more room for tasty treats.

SummerHome14

On my latest antiquing adventure with my mom, we picked up this ornate chair top. I knew it would be a fun addition somewhere on the walls and for now this is the perfect spot.

SummerHome13

Again, mixing lots of neutrals with wood tones makes summer decor shine without trying too hard.

(Cable knit throw from Boll and Branch)

The dining room has space for plenty of friends and family to gather.

summerhome18

Subtle pops of blue can be found here too, this time in a striped Sharon throw from (Birch Lane) draped over our favorite wicker chair.

SummerHome16

(Jute Rug from Rugs USA)

Textures of wispy plants, a jute rug, and nature’s wonder right outside the window make up the atmosphere here…

summerhome30

From the dining room, you will take a small step down into our kitchen which was updated earlier this last year here.

summerhome34

(Vintage Berry Crate from Finding Home Farms)

I filled our island with lemon tree branches and blackberry vines…

summerhome31

(Market Basket from Vivi Et Margot)

Varieties of hydrangeas are tucked inside my market basket as it hangs from our DIY kitchen rack.

summerhome23

Aprons are ready for summer cooking and warm tones of copper accentuate the kitchen.

summerhome35

Kitchen towels line the work surfaces…

summerhome27

And my china cabinet remains in it’s typical fashion as I find it makes it’s way through all the different seasons.

summerhome24

Citrus for water or lemonade is a wonderful way to decorate the kitchen because it is equally pretty as it is useful.

summerhome26

Leaving the kitchen you will head to the beginning of a very narrow/long hallway…

summerhome37

From there you will find our little bedroom.

summerhome44

Cornflower (blue) colored hydrangeas steal the show adorned atop our fluffy bed.

summerhome42

(Bedding and white basketweave knit throw from Boll and Branch)

Pom pom blankets and cozy knits can still be found throughout summer, fall, winter and/or spring in our bedroom space.

summerhome38

Our vanity is paired with a casual mirror and I really enjoy how the two compliment each other.

summerhome43

Each morning as I get ready for the day and sip my coffee, I am greeted by chartreuse snowball flowers – another wonderful summer hue!

summerhome45

Even on those lazy summer mornings, I will typically make our bed (even though there are occasional and necessary times to take it easy and let the bed be unkept).

summerhome49

(Weathered Wood Wall from Stikwood and Wall Art from Wellbrock Art)

The last room to visit on the tour is our front living room, our more formal space…

summerhome47

This is where we have our office, room for guests and lounging with our DIY sofa bed.

summerhome48

This room is filled with ferns, vines and leafy greens. I kept everything else calm with little color.

summerhome50

As you leave our abode, you will step out into the front yard. We have this little stone paved patio there. A tiny spot to enjoy the evening sun.

SummerHome53

This dining set belonged to my adorable grandparents, a table I sat at as a little girl and love knowing that both my children get to sit here today… A very special place indeed.

SummerHome52

A quiet place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or a bowl full of summer delicious fruit.

SummerHome51

I hope you enjoyed this tour and thank you again for visiting! Don’t forget to head over to my talented friends listed here….
