Summer Decor in the Family Room

Summer Decor in the Family Room 9

Hey there friends! If you got a peek at my post yesterday, you can see that plants and summer are on my mind ;)… I sprinkled some summer throughout our family room and wanted to share it with you! I am joining Kristen from Ella Claire as well as some other friends who are doing the same!

Funnily enough, I was REALLY craving neutral as the season approaches. So instead of bringing color in I took it all out, haha! I switched out our cream rug for this seagrass one. I wanted something a little darker and warmer to anchor the space which is why I chose this one… And I think it did just the trick!

If you have been catching any of my thrifting adventures on IG or posts here, you will also know that I have been collecting some new accessories for the house. This $1.79 lamp was one of them. It brought a little depth to the room while keeping in line with the neutrals.

Texture lines different surfaces like this tray basket. And an easy to care for succulent plant that I got for Mother’s Day (it still needs a pot).

And if it isn’t obvious enough already, I sprinkled plants in every little corner I could… lol.

I kept the linens (pillows and throws) soft and light with stripes stealing the show.

I added a couple new additions for pillows, but didn’t go crazy. I grabbed some older ones from the tubs in my garage as well.

This spider plant was the perfect addition to the coffee table and the greenery from each o the live plants brings all the color that this room needed.

And those are some very simple but fun ways I changed things up for the summer season! I didn’t go spending too much money and made plants the highlight of the space.

Some may say neutral gets boring, but honestly it is my favorite look of all! I am drawn to this look and throughout the years it has been the one I love the most. And best of all, it is so easy to create! You just mix textures, patterns, tones all within the same color tone and you have it!
