From White Walls to a Soft Sage Gray: Our Cozy Family Room Transformation
For years, our family room walls were a simple bright white, clean and classic, but missing some warmth and depth. Painting the room a soft sage gray instantly made the entire space feel calmer, cozier, and much more like us.
What started as a simple paint update ended up completely transforming the atmosphere of the room, adding the perfect balance of warmth, softness, and character.

Here above you can see the before of our family room. It was wonderful and I still really like how this looked with white walls. Below you can see the after and how it feels much warmer, cozier and I really love it!

It was so much fun to take simple paint and make this transformation! I always say that paint is the easiest and most often times the most affordable way to make a change in a space.

We decided to keep the baseboards, doors and moldings white. While I do enjoy a color drenched room it just makes more sense to keep these things a creamy white in here. We will also keep the ceilings white. Down the road though we do plan to plank the ceilings. That is pretty much one of the last things we want to do in this space.

You may see we traded out the couch. We still have the previous couch and are using it in another space that I am so very hoping to have finished by early summer. We have been working on it for about a year and a half now.

Another big change in here is the updated wet bar that we turned into a built in bookshelf.

It’s nearly complete, we are working on some finishing touches as well as lighting, but that will have to come summer. This really completes the cozy and inviting feeling I was going for in here.

This is where we watch movies, eat at the dining banquet and it feels a bit like a den room, so I really am so happy with how this is all feeling!

Like I said there a few more small changes to finish in here but we are so close and I have been wanting to share! Oh and the color we used in here is SW Sensible Hue. It is such a lovely color that works great on these walls!
