DIY Spring Fern Plant

DIY Fern Plant

Hello all! Um… Can I say just how excited I am to be kicking off this post, as it means that spring is around the corner and I could not be more ready! Today I am sharing a super easy dollar store project that took me about 10 minutes to put together. And it is a DIY spring fern plant. To top it off, I get to join Krista at The Happy Housie as well as some very sweet friends who are sharing their spring projects too!

I don’t know if you are anything like me, but I kinda have a hard time keeping ferns alive and well. I do pretty good with other house plants, but ferns don’t like me, haha… So I made this alternative option that has to like me as it is faux ;). It is simple and easy to throw together…

Again, I grabbed these things at the Dollar Store, but you could get it all at a craft store as well.

You will need:

A small pot or container, fern stems, a foam square and then some moss.

To put this spring plant together, you will:

Place the foam square in the center of your container.

Here is where things get really easy… You will just start pushing the stems into the center of the foam. I began with one stem in the center…

I continued to add stems around the center.

Once you have finished inserting stems, then you can fill it all in and finish it off with moss.

I used a planter from the Dollar Store but didn’t love the color. You could always spray paint it before or I happened to have these cute burlap covers on hand. I found them at the local craft store and now was the perfect time to implement their use!

There you have it! This may be the easiest craft I have ever done, but that kinda makes me love it even more! And it looks pretty good too, if I do say so myself ;)…

I was cracking up as I was photographing this project as these were the looks I was getting from our Wesley… lol…

I am not sure he enjoyed the craft as much as I did!

These types of DIY are awesome because they are budget friendly, last forever and once you tire of it, you can just pass it on!

All this sunshine couldn’t make me happier either! It has me so so very excited for the season to come. How about you?

Such a cute planter! I never see ferns at my dollar store but now I’ll be on the lookout. Real ferns don’t like me either, ha!

It’s so hard to keep real ferns alive, great project. Love the container too.
