I recently ran to the store and found some roses on discount. I loved the color, couldn’t resist more flowers and swooped them up! Getting home I decide to play with an idea and was excited to see it work… So today I wanted to share with you how I took these store bought roses and made them look like garden grown roses!
You can see how tight these pretty little blooms are and while they are gorgeous, my favorite roses are the cottage/David Austin variety.
By gently pulling the petals away from the center, the rose will open up.
As you can see here, it is looking more like a rose you may find in your garden. Don’t worry if the petals split a bit.
Like roses themselves there is no perfect or right or wrong way for them to end up looking. I just tried to focus and expanding the petals and letting the middle peek through.
Because you are pulling on them they may turn a little and have some browning. I have found they do not last as long either. But my garden roses are very fragile and much like these, they will not last very long as well.
I love how romantic they are and how they bring beauty wherever they are displayed.
Simple pretty elegance again at an affordable price… Especially if you can find the older roses that stores are trying to get rid of!
And in case you may have missed it, Zevy Joy got a little update… You can see the new look here below!
I had the pleasure of using Tana at Your Marketing BFF to give Zevy Joy a makeover. This lady is talented, knowledgeable and honestly so helpful. I would love to recommend her for so many reasons, some of which include marketing, how-to’s, recipes, home and more.. Head over to see for yourself and thank you Tana for doing a beautiful job! Make sure to take a look around the blog now as it is easier to navigate, search and enjoy. I love that you all come to visit with me regularly and I hope you will continue to.
Don’t forget this flower tip you may find useful with all the upcoming holidays and get togethers too!
Thank you, Who knew it was as simple as pulling on the petals? I love the garden variety look of roses.
Tami thank you and it is surprising isn’t it?! I was glad I didn’t completely ruin them but was able to enjoy them even a bit more. I appreciate you stopping by.
Thank you for the wonderful shout out Annie + the opportunity to work alongside you… it’s been an absolute pleasure! AND as a long time reader/follower of your blog – I’m so glad I get to enjoy more beauty and less scrolling, haha. xo
I meant every word Tana! And lol… much better now ;)! xo
Another easy way to open up your new store bought roses are to take a deep breath, bring the center of the rose up to your mouth and blow a gentle stream of air. You will see that the roses open up considerably and you can give them the “breath of life” a couple more times if needed,
I had no idea Jacquie! What a wonderful tip, thank you!
