Coastal Bathroom with Peel and Stick Wallpaper

We gave our bathroom a fresh coastal makeover with peel and stick wallpaper. We used som simple, budget-friendly tips to create a breezy, beach-inspired space.

This easy DIY project brought coastal charm to our space without the mess or commitment of traditional wallpaper.

Peel and Stick Wallpaper

This powder bathroom on our first floor has seen several stages of upgrades. Above is the latest after!

Below you can see the before…. This is what our bathroom looked like when we moved in. We had so many projects going when we moved into this home of ours in the beginning that this bathroom was really low on the list to get some love. Over time I painted the cabinets and changed out the mirror to give it a fresh look. this definitely made things look a little fresher and cleaner. It’s a dark space with no windows (it’s also really hard to photograph, lol). I knew down the road it was going to need some more. After living here nearly 4 years I was ready to try out some peel and stick wallpaper to give the bathroom a whole new look!

Funnily enough, after years of tackling DIY’s I had never attempted peel and stick wallpaper! I loved the idea of bringing some color into the space and I knew I could do this project without needing Tyler’s assistance. So I jumped online, ordered something blue and a design that felt subtly coastal.

I got to working on it and it really wasn’t that hard to do. I will say that it took a good amount of time and I absolutely took my time. I didn’t want it to feel sloppy or wrinkled. I used a wallpaper smoothing tool, razor blade and level to go throughout the entire space. Certain areas were tight and definitely were a challenge. I wont lie, my back and neck were a bit tired after getting around all the corners, haha.

I am so so happy with how it turned out though! It has held up great and really gave this entire bathroom a whole new feel. It is coastal, colorful and works really well with the countertops. The countertops are not my favorite, but they are in good shape and it is not in our budget to replace them anytime soon.

I centered the whole look of this bathroom around these countertops; everything from the color of cabinet paint to the color of the peel and stick wallpaper.

Before and Afters for 2023

Above is another before, where I had painted the vanity. You will notice I also changed out the lighting in here. I am trying to decide if and how I can incorporate some more in the room. Like I said, it is just really poorly lit overall. We also plan to change out the faucet. California water is so hard on fixtures, this faucet is overdue to be replaced. That will probably happen sometime this next year.

It’s been too long since sharing here and I am looking forward to visiting here more! Here is a peek of a project I also did for fun and I will write up a post talking about what I did too this cute little closet. I still have a few things to finish before sharing soon!

This bathroom upgrade was worth the step of adding peel and stick wallpaper! We were able to transform the space into a coastal inspired bathroom with some simple details. This budget-friendly DIY project adds beachy charm without the hassle of traditional wallpaper, making it perfect for renters or quicker makeovers.
