Elevate Your Space with Sherwin Williams’ Earl Grey: A Versatile Grey with Subtle Blue Undertones

Transforming a room with the perfect paint color is an exciting endeavor, and we recently had the pleasure of experiencing the magic of Sherwin Williams’ Earl Grey. This versatile hue offers more than meets the eye, with subtle blue undertones that add depth and character to any space.

In this blog post, we’ll delve into the remarkable qualities of Earl Grey, including its Light Reflectance Value (LRV), suitability for different lighting conditions, ideal sheen for bathrooms, and the nuanced tones that make it a standout choice.

Before we do all of that, here is a quick look at the before of our bathroom (I had attempted a DIY on the original tile and it was a fail, it didn’t look great). Please note, I am going to do a much bigger before/after post with the entire bedroom and bathroom area. The focus of the post will be the paint, but a peek at the space as well! This space is very tight, so it was quite tricky to photograph.

Unraveling the Charisma of Earl Grey

Sherwin Williams’ Earl Grey (SW 7660) is a versatile grey hue that exudes sophistication and style. With an LRV that strikes the perfect balance between light and dark, Earl Grey creates a welcoming atmosphere in any room. Its subtle blue undertones add a unique dimension to the traditional grey palette, infusing the space with a sense of tranquility and elegance. Whether bathed in natural light or illuminated by artificial lighting, Earl Grey adapts seamlessly to its surroundings, offering a timeless backdrop for any decor style.

Suitability for Different Lighting Conditions

One of the standout features of Earl Grey is its versatility in various lighting conditions. In rooms with abundant natural light, the subtle blue undertones of Earl Grey come to life, casting a soft and soothing ambiance. Similarly, in spaces with limited natural light, Earl Grey maintains its warmth and depth, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Whether your space receives ample sunlight or relies on artificial lighting, Earl Grey remains steadfast in its ability to create a serene and inviting environment.

Our bathroom doesn’t get a ton of light, so I would definitely say that it feels deeper in here. I love it!

Ideal Sheen for Bathrooms

When it comes to selecting the right sheen for bathrooms, durability and moisture resistance are paramount. Earl Grey is well-suited for bathrooms, and we recommend opting for a satin or semi-gloss sheen to ensure longevity and easy maintenance. Satin sheen offers a subtle shine that reflects light beautifully, while semi-gloss sheen provides added durability and resistance to moisture. With its versatile sheen options, Earl Grey lends itself perfectly to bathroom walls, offering both style and practicality.

We used satin in our bathroom.

Nuanced Tones and Timeless Elegance

Earl Grey boasts nuanced tones that range from soft greys to subtle blues, creating a dynamic backdrop for any room’s decor. Whether paired with modern furnishings or rustic accents, Earl Grey effortlessly enhances the overall aesthetic, adding depth and character to every space. From contemporary living rooms to vintage-inspired kitchens, Earl Grey exudes a timeless elegance that transcends trends, ensuring that your space remains chic and stylish for years to come.

Elements of the Bathroom Makeover

In addition to the transformative power of Earl Grey, our bathroom makeover included several key elements to enhance its overall aesthetic. We installed vinyl peel n stick floor tiles for a budget-friendly flooring solution. Vertical shiplap walls painted in Earl Grey added texture and visual interest to the space, creating a dynamic backdrop for our decor. We adorned the room with a waffle weave shower curtain in pristine white, adding a touch of luxury and sophistication to the space. I really wanted it to feel like that traditional nod of coastal with the blue and white, yet different with a more modern/muted grey/blue.

With its captivating allure and transformative capabilities, Earl Grey has the power to elevate any room to new heights of style and sophistication.
