Upcoming Plans For The Kitchen
Hello friends! So glad to be back visiting. I took a little break here after spring and it was refreshing to rest and rejuvenate. I am looking forward to staying busy and joining you here more frequently this upcoming season, so stay tuned! Speaking of busy, we have some upcoming plans for our kitchen. And as we spend the next month working on those plans, I thought it would be fun to share the ideas we have and hope to implement for this space!
I am never sure what will actually get done ;)… But there are several things that are higher on the list and I will explain down below.
For the first phase of our kitchen, we painted cabinets and laid the wood floors. For phase two, which was several years ago, we renovated the main part of the kitchen by redoing the counters and adding subway tile to the backsplash. Therefore, this part of the kitchen pictured above will not be getting anything major. I may choose to update hardware, but I may leave it as is…
Just last winter, we replaced the base of our island with this table instead. I would love to add shelving at the base of this table for more storage. We will also be trading out these pendents for a different look too.
When facing this island you will find cabinets and a large window to the left (as pictured below).
We built this area when we moved in and have enjoyed the additional storage it provided. That window leads out to our patio.
This little area will get some sprucing with new treatments that I cannot wait to share with you! We will be adding sconces to this wall for extra lighting.
On the opposite side of the island is a blank wall where we had a china cabinet for many years…
As the years have passed we have decided that this space would be best with more cabinetry and shelves. You can see here that we are getting ready to make that happen. I plan to purchase shelves for up above and some more sconces for this area as well.
Extra cabinets in a tiny kitchen make a big difference!
When you walk into our kitchen we also have this blank wall. I have kept it simple with the DIY rack and plan to keep it mostly as is. I may add a wall treatment, but honestly that will depend on time and all DIYers know that time runs out much quicker than you think when doing projects, lol.
I have loved our kitchen through the years and through all the different stages. When we first moved in, having white cabinets made all the difference in this sweet space. As time went on have lighter counter tops was an exciting improvement. And for this next season I am looking forward to adding in all the details that I have been dreaming up for a while. But no matter how the space looks or what color paint it has been, this little space has worked for our family. What a treat to have all the memories of nearly ten years here! A small home with big doses of joy and everything between in all those important moments.
So check back in about a month to see how it is going, I am looking forward to sharing more and appreciate you joining in the journey!
