Floral Sugar Cookies Perfect For Easter!

How To Make Floral Easter Sugar Cookies!

Hi there sweet friends… This week has been interesting as my children’s school temporarily closed down and they will be here with me schooling until mid April. I love having them so we are making the best of it and they can join in on some of the projects I am doing here. One of them being these sweet Gluten/Dairy Free Floral Sugar Cookies! I am joining my sweet friends Ashley at Modern Glam, Janine at Happy Happy Nester and Leslie from My 100 Year Old Home to share some Easter dessert recipes.

These cookies are especially great for those with food sensitivities and I am excited to say that I have come up with a cookie frosting that is made without processed sugars!

Here is how you will make these cookies and decorate them:

  • For the sugar cookies you can follow this recipe here from my Linzer Cookies…
  • For the icing you will simply use a mixer to mix up 1 cup canned coconut cream, 2 tbsp coconut flour, 2 tbsp arrowroot and maple syrup to taste or consistency. Please note I did not give an exact measurement for the syrup and I prefer to let people determine how sweet they want something but this will thin out the icing as well (so the more the better, haha). I also found that I wanted mine thinned out a bit more so I used almond milk until I got things where I wanted them.

After your sugar cookies have cooled you will want to fill some small bowls with food dye. I used food colored dyes I found at the grocery store.

Next fill a baggie with the tip snipped off for your icing bag. I always put an icing tip in the cut corner and use this for decorating.

These could be made for any cookie shape but I wanted flowers for spring/Easter and therefore used my icing to draw out the shape of whimsical flowers.

This is where things got to be so fun! I took toothpicks and dipped them into the food coloring and began to paint the icing on the cookies like so.

They almost look like watercolored creations and I loved them so much! They were so bright and cheerful.

Can’t you imagine them at a Easter luncheon? They would be great for so many festivities.

I originally had planned to do Easter Eggs, but then couldn’t find my cookie cutter, lol… So that is how these flowers came to be!
