DIY – A Faux Pumpkin Straight From the Pumpkin Patch

A Pumpkin Patch Pumpkin!

How To Make An Easy Pumpkin Patch Pumpkin!

It has been a little more quiet on here since all the fall craziness in Sept! It felt like fall burst onto the heels of summer’s end and as that slows down… Christmas will be here before you know it! I’ve teamed up with some sweet friends today to do some pumpkin crafts and I can’t wait to see what they shared! I honestly couldn’t come up with something super original or new this time for decorating a pumpkin… So I did think about loving how fancy and free pumpkins sit in a pumpkin patch. Which got me thinking, what a shame it is that we can’t take all that prettiness home with us when we go to the pumpkin patch. The vines attached and the organic nature of pumpkins in their element. That is why I am going to show you how to make a Pumpkin Patch Pumpkin!

It is so easy and you will only need these simple materials:

  • Faux pumpkin
  • Garland of Vines (I picked one that resembled pumpkin vines the best I could)
  • Scissors
  • Glue Gun with Glue Sticks

Here is how you will put this pretty little pumpkin together!

I started by cutting the garland apart into pieces of varying lengths. The length will depend on your pumpkin size, but I wanted them to flow out of the pumpkin like they do in real life.

Next I began carefully gluing the vines into the center of the top of the pumpkin. Right near the stem.

Then I began to secure the vine in certain places on the seams of the pumpkin (it made the hot glue less obvious).

I attached several different lengths of vine to the pumpkin and that was it! It was done and good to go!

Then I put it on our kitchen bench for display. I love how sweet and simple it is.

Plus, it is a little different from the traditional faux pumpkins you see out there. A little more whimsical I suppose…

After finishing this, I thought how pretty it would be to set up an arrangement with these as a tablescape!

And if you wanted to take it a step further, you could add floral garland to make it a bit more fancy. Just a thought…

  1. Oh my goodness! What a cute idea! I love the simplicity of it! (And that last pic of the pumpkin on the table…GORGEOUS!)

  2. The vine makes such a difference. Really cute. If you are near a pumpkin farm, perhaps, like my local farm, they will allow you to come in toward the end of the season and pick up, for free, real stems left in the field. I did this several years ago and still have a small plastic container full. I cut out the faux stems and hot glue on the real stems and this, too, adds realism.
