How To Make A DIY Gold Detailed Candle Votive!

Welcome back today for some fun DIY Christmas gift ideas! The project I am sharing is super easy, but for some reason it took me all day to figure out how I wanted to work after a failed attempt! Isn’t that silly how that can work sometimes?! I love the look of gorgeous candle holders, but I don’t love the price tag as much sometimes… That is why I am sharing how to do these gold detailed candle votives. There are so many ways to spin this too, which I will explain throughout the post. I am joining Krista at The Happy Housie for her Seasonal Simplicity Series so there will be plenty of beautiful inspiration down below!

I love giving candles as gifts… I think most people enjoy them and they bring the hygge feeling to any home! We actually rarely use candles on a regular basis so I have started to buy electric ones. These are a great option for teachers or people who may be sensitive to scents/fragrances.

Here is what you will need to make this DIY gift:

  • Candle votive of some type or candle that has a glass holder.
  • Gold or metallic paint pen.
  • If you are using a votive only, then make sure to grab a candle or an electric candle to fill the votive too!

Here is how easy it is to put this sweet little gift together…

If you are going to do a tricky pattern, then I suggest making a simple template like I did below. Then you can simply trace the pattern with your paint pen.

Or if you can’t use a template due to the shape of your votive, then I suggest going with easy designed like dots, lines, etc…

Here you can see my template and all I did was trace!

I kept this design going as it felt too small in scale here.

And on this votive you can see how I colored in some organic style dots. Almost as if they were carbonated bubbles…

This was so easy and fun to do! And as I mentioned this could be done with a wide range of budgets! You could gather supplies at the dollar store, craft store or even look for a pretty container while antiquing or thrifting. I hope you enjoy and don’t forget to visit my friends sharing below!
