A Simple and Elegant Halloween Tour in the Family Room

I will show you how to make your Halloween decor simple and elegant!

Living room with black crow on coffee table and dark purple flowers.

Hello all! Today is a little different around here as I am showing you how fun (and elegant) it can be to decorate for Halloween! I am sharing with Kristen at Ella Claire and some very creative friends whom you will see down below! I say that it is a little different, because I am a scaredy cat… I don’t do Halloween very big around here and I never watch scary movies, haha! But I do think it can be fun to get a little festive and so we did just that this year. I only went so far as using nature’s creepy creatures for my Halloween inspiration ;)!

A white neutral living room with green plant and a spider web wrapped around it.

One day when I was walking the aisles of our local craft store, I started to pick a handful of things I would use for this little tour.

Black spiders all around the green plant with a crow on the mantel.

Spiders were the first thing I grabbed. It is a well know fact around here that I lose my cool anytime a spider is near. It is a real fear friends, arms flailing,  squealing noises, and so on. I am sure you can picture the whole thing… This inexpensive web went up to set the scene with all it’s little critters to join.

I actually had these black crows from a couple years back and they returned for the season yet again. We have plenty of these in real life that roam our property. And I will say, they are so smart!

As my husband and I walk by this spot in the house, each encounter we comment how the spider that landed on the floor gets us every. time. He is much calmer than I though, lol.

White and beige couches with green plant covered in cobwebs.

Even though I got these at the craft store, I am pretty sure so many of these things can also be found inexpensively at the dollar store as well!

Neutral sitting room with light wooden floors and fireplace.

As you find your way to the center of our decorated room you will see some more creepy crawlers…

They are marching their way into a rich almost black faux bouquet.

Little black spiders on the floor.

Spiders couldn’t stand alone so I reused these moth like butterflies to join the party.

And mushrooms growing out of glow n the dark potion bottles.

While these decorations are subtle, the details are what make the whole set up so fun! I didn’t have to spend big to make a statement and the kids are having a blast with it all.

I think they would like to leave it up till Christmas, but I am certain that won’t be happening ;). For all you out there who may be too scared for some of the Halloween decor out there like me, I hope that this inspires you to have a little fun with the season.

Please don’t forget to visit my friends who are sharing some spooky, festive and everything in between decor! They are incredible!
