DIY Christmas Post – Christmas Countdown Tree

IMG_0206.jpg
We have a fake tree that we got many years ago; the lights are broken in certain places and it was probably time to let it go. I wasn’t ready to trade it in and decided to use it in our kitchen as a “Countdown” till Christmas tree. I decorated with handmade or dollar store ornaments and then some numbers I made (tutorial below). Each day the kids pull a number down and on the back is an activity for the day – such as reading a Christmas story, a Christmas craft or drinking hot cocoa… It is so much fun and there are many great ideas on how to countdown out there!

Here is what you will need to make the countdown numbers-

– scissors
– pencil
– glitter scrapbook paper (I found mine at my local craft store)
– hole punch and twine if you are making it into a Garland.

Here is how I made the numbers –

Trace whatever shape or number you are making BACKWARDS onto the blank backside of the glitter paper. Cut it out and punch a hole in it if you are going to string it up as a Garland. That is it! So so easy!

Here are some other ways I have used this paper in our decor this season. I hope you try it out and thanks for stopping by!
