Little Home Updates, Yards, Garage, and More!
It’s been such a long time since I have shared any updates here at the house. We actually have been making changes to our front yard/exterior, the garage and some other spaces too!
We have been updating the garage into a nicer laundry area, traded out lighting/landscaped some more of the front exterior and hung a chandelier in our living room. Here is a look below at some of this little changes!
Garage Updates
Let’s start with the garage. We have been working so hard the past two years to really organize and clean up our garage in hopes of making it more of a multipurpose hang out space. It is also where we do our laundry, so I wanted it to feel prettier and make the task of laundry just a little bit nicer, haha! This is not a garage conversion, more just keeping the structure of the garage as is, but a place to do larger gatherings, crafts, movie nights with friends, games, etc…

I need to track down an original photo of the space, but in a nutshell we have tall wooden shelves, laundry machines, a garage fridge, micowave etc… We envisioned the space having the shelving closed off with doors. A large table for crafts/puzzles, games, and folding laundry. Then on the other side we chose to make that an area with a sectional, coffee table and a rolling tv.
To start Tyler and I built these large doors (to match the existing smaller one) and then I painted them. We are using all the furniture we have already.

Withe the kids getting older and we love to entertain, this will become a fun overflow area in general.

As you enter the garage from the house we have our laundry area to the side. We built surrounds and covers for this section. You can see below as we began to frame that out.

I also wanted pleated curtains that would hide away the machines. We will continue to clean this up, but it’s on its way!

One day we would love to actually transform and convert this whole garage possibly, but for now we kept it to code and are just making it a pretty space. The last thing on the list is to paint the floors. I am hoping to do that in the next couple weeks before we start to put Christmas up in the house during November. But for now, here is where we are and I’m really loving the transformation! We need to wash the sofa covers and finish the floors before I can share the other side. When that is all done I will share a completed before and after.
Front Exterior
We also have been chipping away at the front exterior of our home. A while back we planted some new plantings by the front window and I painted the exterior. That was a drastic change and we loved it. Then we added a new face to the garage which was a beautiful before and after. I have been wanting to get going on this landscaping project so was able to find some free agave on MarketPlace that we went and picked up. It filled the entire bed of our truck, lol. I also found a gorgeous olive tree second hand!

Then we had our landscaper help us dig up a couple areas for us to add all of our new plants and it has made such a difference to our front exterior. You can also see where we began to trade out old lighting, add garage lighting and more. This house has such a modern exterior so I’ve truly enjoyed playing with that and making it ours.

This was before adding borders to the garden beds and then we will lay down gravel. I chose to keep our existing brick out here for budget’s sake and painted it white.

Here is a look at the new lighting at night, it is actually so pretty. We want to add a row of lights to the walkway eventually too.

Living Room Chandelier
And lastly for now, we finally hung this chandelier in our living room. I was trying to decide on the height so the cord is not quite right. This was another fun addition that just really brought cohesiveness to the space. I’m considering wrapping it is some type of woven material, just not sure yet.

I know we are moving much slower around here with projects, but I do want to share that while the progress is slow it is such fun improvement! So better to share than not share at all, haha. Hope this inspires you if things are taking a little bit longer than you pictured and that progress is always better than perfection. Thank you so much for visiting with me today!
