A Simple Coffee Treat

I love coffee, I mean I truthfully look forward to my first sips every morning.  It is one of the highlights to waking up early. I used to enjoy buying coffee daily and that just wasn’t working when trying to save money. Now coffee from our own machine is the very best to me.  I prefer it to a store bought latte, until they come out with the seasonal flavors.  I do absolutely enjoy the treat of a peppermint mocha or a salted carmel machiatto.  Last year I shared this easy recipe for a sweet coffee and would say it was a good enough match to the real thing.

Today I was craving something out of my ordinary coffee routine and started playing around with flavors.  There is really nothing extrodianry about this recipe, but in an effort to remain geniuine with my day to day on this little blog of mine, I thought I would share!

Here are the ingredients and utensils I used…

  • a cup of brewed coffee
  • cream (I used about 1/4 of a cup)
  • 1/8 teaspoon of vanilla
  • dash of nutmeg
  • dash of cinnamon
  • sugar (optional if you want to make this sweeter)
  • pan and whisk

Here is how I made this lightly sweet blend…

I poured the cream into the pan and set it to low heat. Next I added the vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon to the cream and used the whisk to mix it until nice and warm.  I poured the warm milk mixture into the coffee and stirred until combined.

That was how easy it was.  The taste was subltle and I enjoyed some without adding sugar.  You can easily vary these amounts based on your taste preferences.

I don’t even know what I would call this mix, a cookie spiced coffee, a pumpkin coffee… all I know is it reminded me of fall and it was fun to do something new with little cost.  Thanks so much for stopping by!
