How To Decorate Your Home And Make Things Cozy For Fall!

Welcome to our home all decorated and cozy for fall sweet friends! It is still a work in progress, but I don’t believe you should wait for your home to be perfect or “finished” for you to open it up and share. So today I am opening my virtual blog door to you and saying Happy Fall! I am joining sweet Kristen at Ella Claire & Co. while we share our homes decorated for the season as part of her Seasons of Home series.

I think it is important to remember that cozy isn’t just about lighting, pillows and blankets (while of course all of those things infuse the cozy factor beautifully)! But it can also be about bringing in texture. Like this pampas grass atop our mantel.

And yes, it is about pillows… More importantly though, it is about layers. Layering blankets and pillows is key.

Here I have a wool blanket thrown over our ottoman.

In addition, think rich color and warmth when you are wanting to cozy things up. These are my newly made over camping stools that I bought second hand last year.

And a dramatic painting I found while thrifting on the internet.

Across the way you will see the latest in our formal dining room. Here you will notice all those things I was mentioning before… Rich colors and textures!

As you move your way from the dining room you will find our eating area off of the kitchen.

I set a simple tablescape that also felt cozy, with layered napkins and dishes…

Richly colored faux magnolia leaves…

And a bowl full of moody plums…

You can see how these themes are repeated through each and every room…

And lastly is the family room that you have seen a couple times now, with more fluffy, textural pampas grass…

And I don’t want to forget, candles and candlesticks instantly bring ambience to any space and make it feel cozy as well. You don’t have to have them lit either to feel this way.

There you have it! I would say to remember these important details: texture, layers, rich colors/warmth, and candles/candlesticks. Once you have that it is easy to pull together.

Truth is, most of this will stay the same throughout the rest of the year in here. I will just swap out some of the textures and greenery. But the warmth in wood tones, layers and more will always remain.
