Holiday Housewalk 2020 – A Christmas Home Tour

A Christmas Tour of Our Home!

Holiday Housewalk 2020!

Hello there sweet friends, I am so happy to have you visiting today as part of Jen Rizzo’s beautiful Holiday Housewalk 2020. This is such an honor to be a part of this tour and it means so much to me that I get to open up our home and share with you here. Jen hosts this wonderful tour each year and it offers both inspiration and joy to those who swing by. Welcome to those of you who are visiting from Jennifer from Town and Country Living. Jennifer is such a sweetheart that I have had the pleasure of getting to know over the years. She is very talented and her home is justbeautiful every season .

You may already know this, but we recently sold our home this last summer. We are now temporarily living with my husband’s sweet Grandfather while we prepare to move again this spring. We live in the basement part of his Grandpa’s home and it gets great light for being a basement! Anyhow… This is the entrance and what it looks like when you enter into this little space of ours.

Holiday Housewalk 2020 - A Christmas Home Tour

We did not have stairs in our last home so you can imagine how much fun it was to decorate this small one this year!

Holiday Housewalk 2020 - A Christmas Home Tour

I just tied up some mixed garland and finished it up with satin ribbon and jingle bells.

I love the simplicity of it all.

Holiday Housewalk 2020 - A Christmas Home Tour

As you head past the stairs you find yourself in our bedroom here…

Holiday Housewalk 2020 - A Christmas Home Tour

I added some simple touches in here just with greenery and winter art prints.

Holiday Housewalk 2020 - A Christmas Home Tour

And of course a Christmas tree!

Holiday Housewalk 2020 - A Christmas Home Tour

Coordinating presents lay under the tree. This year, I chose to do my best and not spend on any decorations for the Christmas season and that even including my wrapping paper!

Holiday Housewalk 2020 - A Christmas Home Tour

I also made sure to use ornaments that we already had. This tree only got a handful of ornaments as I wanted to keep it simple but pretty.

Holiday Housewalk 2020 - A Christmas Home Tour

This bedroom is bigger than any bedroom we have lived so I am able to squeeze a little dining area by the window for fun!

Holiday Housewalk 2020 - A Christmas Home Tour

It would be the perfect place to enjoy breakfast with some hot coffee!

Holiday Housewalk 2020 - A Christmas Home Tour

I laid out greens with a few candlesticks and everything felt instantly more inviting!

Holiday Housewalk 2020 - A Christmas Home Tour

It is amazing what you can use to decorate for the holidays and how using just some greens and a few ornaments can transform a space…

Holiday Housewalk 2020 - A Christmas Home Tour

Of course you need to make sure and include the twinkle lights or flickering candlelight ;)…

Holiday Housewalk 2020 - A Christmas Home Tour

As you exit our room you will head out into our main living area.

Holiday Housewalk 2020 - A Christmas Home Tour

I recently added some vintage frames and prints to this little wall. It makes me smile to enjoy those little details.

And just trading out prints for something wintery makes the space that much more intentional.

Holiday Housewalk 2020 - A Christmas Home Tour

Here is another look at our main Christmas tree, I was drawn to a vintage look and again created that using what we already had at home.

And as you leave our home here and head out the door…

You will find yourself on our decorated patio!

Wreaths and Christmas trees line the door and then there is a warm fire that urges you to stay just a bit longer.

Holiday Housewalk 2020 - A Christmas Home Tour

Lots of twinkle lights can be seen from all the different angles of our home. The kids love this spot!

Holiday Housewalk 2020 - A Christmas Home Tour

White poinsettias give a little extra joy to the space.

And what a treat it is to decorate “home” for this beautiful season. Not because of all of the decorations or the pretty things… But because of the reason for this season and what a wonderful celebration it is!

Thank you so much for being here with me today. Make sure to go and visit my amazing friend Destiny at Just Destiny as she will be the first stop tomorrow on Tuesday. Destiny has made such a gorgeous home and I absolutely love her style!

So pretty. I love the simplicity of greenery and lights. I’ve always wanted a tree for the porch. It really warms the home.
I so enjoy seeing others designs for the holidays. Not just National Lampoon’s take on decor:0)

I love wind chimes, chirping birds and dripping fountains... So you can imagine how fun it has been to be inside with the windows open and hearing all if those noises at once 💕. This could be a project that would be easily done with inexpensive pieces and makes a big impact for your outdoor space. Speaking of outdoor spaces, I shared ours all ready for summer up on the blog along with my friends. Come check it out if you need some easy ideas!

I am talking about how we use drawers, but try to keep things pretty/functional at the same time... Come check it out and see how we think outside the box when it comes to this space! One of my new favorite tips comes from these 100% Cotton Turkish towels we were gifted from @theloomia! Not only are they pretty, they are large, but save space at the same time... You’ll have to go see what I mean in my stories, see you there! And @theloomia is offering 15% off when you use the code - Zevyjoy15 💕

And this hallway is finally done 🎉! Here is a little before and after... The board and batten design is from @anitayokota after I saw how she used it in her pretty bedroom I knew this would put a fun modern spin in the hallway. Some fresh paint, an affordable vintage rug and updated lighting completed this long dark space. Covering popcorn ceilings will come next, but I hope this shows how a little trim and paint go a long way when working on spaces! 🌿

We both walked out dressed sorta matching this morning 😂 This girl knows what she likes and asked to have her pink room transformed with blue... And you know when you give a mouse a cookie... 🍪 (Clearly I am the mouse 🐭 in this story 🤣) We finished up the new bead-board wall (I have trim touch up to do still) and then we are finishing spraying her little desk this afternoon. A couple vintage pieces are on the way, but otherwise I have been shopping the house for this little makeover. It’s all still in progress, but getting closer! And you all... This room is small!! Now as I have made our own home, I almost always use the rule of 3’s whenever I am decorating. That goes for coffee tables, nightstands and more... I’m talking all about it and showing you some examples in stories today! And even more fun is that @boutiquerugs is offering 60% off with the code - ZEVYJOY60 ! You all know how I feel about pillows by now, don’t you?! 😂 Well in case you don’t... I think they are the best! They pull a space together affordably and make things cozy of course! You can trade them out or just keep adding to them (which is what I like to do 😉). And let’s face it, you can never have too many... Am I right? They are your artistic canvas in home decor and in my opinion there aren’t many rules to follow in the fun of mixing and matching them either! 🌿
Best of all, I’ve teamed up with 7 talented accounts to share how we used pillows to style our spaces. Head on over and check out what they’ve done... @thegingerhome
