My Favorite Must-Have Cleaning Supplies and Tools for Home

1. Vacuum Cleaner
A vacuum cleaner is a cornerstone of any cleaning arsenal, essential for keeping floors free of dust, dirt, and debris. Whether you have carpet, hardwood, or tile floors, a high-quality vacuum cleaner is essential for maintaining a clean and healthy living environment. Choose a vacuum cleaner that is suitable for your flooring type and features powerful suction and versatile attachments for tackling upholstery, stairs, and hard-to-reach areas.
I am still searching for the best vacuum. We have had a couple high end brands that have been pretty good these last 5+ years. I’m not sure our most recent one if my favorite though, so I will update this post when I find one I would recommend! I will say I always look for ones that are cordless, can detach so that is can be handheld, and has attachments for different jobs.
What I have really enjoyed is our robotic vacuum. We got this robotic vacuum on sale and it has been great for us! I truly have noticed less dog hair, dust bunnies and feel it has kept things cleaner without me needing to do all the work, haha.
2. Mop and Bucket
A mop and bucket are essential for keeping hard floors clean and sanitized. Choose a mop that is appropriate for your flooring type, whether it’s a traditional cotton mop, a microfiber mop, or a steam mop for deep cleaning and sanitizing. Pair it with a sturdy bucket equipped with a wringer for easy mop wringing and water disposal.
I have tried many types of mops throughout the years… Everything from wet mops, steam mops and a washcloth with water (that was very efficient). I made a purchase for this O-Cedar set and haven’t regretted it one bit! My favorite thing about it is the Wringing Mechanism. Many O-Cedar mops come with a built-in wringing mechanism, such as a lever, pedal, or twist action, that allows you to squeeze out excess water or cleaning solution from the mop head. This helps prevent streaks and water damage on floors while also making the mop easier to handle and use. It is a very efficient way to get the job done!
3. Dust Pan and Broom
A good quality broom and dustpan set is important for sweeping up dust, dirt, and debris from hard floors and carpets (although our vacuums do the majority of that). I find my need for a dust pan and broom is greatest with broken glass or a craft spill of beads. Basically anything I don’t want to chance being a challenge or hard on my vacuum. Opt for a broom with sturdy bristles that effectively sweep up messes, and choose a dustpan with a rubber edge to easily collect and dispose of swept-up debris. For quick cleanups, consider keeping a handheld dustpan and brush set handy for tackling small messes. Our current dust pan and broom are very old. This SET is on my wishlist and I plan to get it soon as the reviews are amazing.
4. Duster and Duster Sponge
A duster is valuable for removing dust and cobwebs from ceilings, walls, baseboards, and other hard-to-reach areas. Choose a duster with a long handle or telescoping pole for reaching high and low spaces, and opt for a microfiber or electrostatic duster that effectively traps and holds onto dust particles for easy removal. My duster is microfiber and connects to a stick, it is older but this one is SIMILAR. I also recently added these Duster Sponges to my supplies and it is great for those spots like baseboards, blinds, window grooves, vents, etc…
5. All-Purpose Cleaner

I will occasionally get a spray that is store bought, but in general we make our own (I share HOW here). I have this paper towel holder that houses our spray as well. It is so convenient!

I bought this electric spin scrubber and haven’t looked back! I have many more places to try it out on, but I have used it repeatedly for our tricky shower floor and it cleans better than anything else I have used!
