Upgrade to a Bigger Pot:
One of the most effective ways to enhance your faux tree display is by upgrading to a larger pot. Many faux trees come pre-potted in standard-sized containers, which can sometimes look disproportionate or too small for the tree’s size. By transplanting your faux tree into a bigger pot, you can create a more balanced and realistic appearance that mimics the growth of a real tree. Choose a pot that complements your decor style and provides ample space for the tree’s roots to spread out. Consider decorative pots made from materials like ceramic, terracotta, or woven rattan to add visual interest and texture to your display. Additionally, adding a layer of rocks or pebbles to the bottom of the pot can help stabilize the tree and create a more natural-looking base.
I chose to add some height with wood scraps I had on hand and this worked well.
Add Moss for a Natural Touch:
To further enhance the realism of your faux tree display, consider adding moss around the base of the tree trunk. Moss adds a natural and organic touch that helps blend the tree seamlessly into its surroundings. You can use preserved or artificial moss, which is widely available at craft stores and garden centers, to create a lush and verdant base for your tree. Simply arrange the moss around the base of the trunk and fluff it up to create a soft and realistic appearance. Moss not only adds visual appeal but also helps conceal the pot and create a more cohesive look for your faux tree display. Experiment with different types of moss, such as sheet moss or Spanish moss, to achieve the desired texture and effect.
To keep my moss stable, I simply traced and cut out a piece of cardboard that I inserted at the rim of the larger pot.
Incorporate Lighting or a Spotlight:
Strategic lighting can take your faux tree display to the next level by highlighting its beauty and creating a captivating focal point in your space. Consider incorporating lighting fixtures or spotlights to illuminate your faux tree and create dramatic shadows and highlights. Position spotlights at the base of the tree to cast upward-facing light on the foliage, creating a soft and natural glow that mimics sunlight filtering through the leaves. You can also use string lights or LED candles wrapped around the branches to add a magical and enchanting ambiance to your faux tree display. Experiment with different lighting angles and intensities to create the desired mood and atmosphere in your space. Whether you’re highlighting a single statement tree or creating a lush indoor forest, strategic lighting can enhance the realism and visual impact of your faux tree display.
I used these small battery operated spotlights. I love the pretty ambience it gives and the glow it casts as well.
