Back to School Prep in the Kitchen
*Lumber Liquidators kindly provided product for this post.
Hello friends, hope that you are having a nice Labor Day weekend. We are headed back to school in a couple days and I thought it may be timely to share some tips that work well for us as the academic year begins. So I am sharing our back to school prep that takes place in the kitchen!
You may notice our island has a tray and this most typically stays put on the island throughout the year. Inside the tray we keep a binder, notecards, pencils and some books.
The binder has a tab for each individual in our house =). And inside you will find all their important school papers, spelling lists, upcoming assignments etc… I used this system last year and LOVED it! It helped me keep all the clutter or papers in one spot.
Again, this is also where we keep notecards, reading books and flashcards for practice!
Another tip (that was passed on by my dear friend Amanda), was to use a lunch packing system with baskets… Here I have baggies, fruits, snacks and more pulled out or prepped for the week and stored within each basket.
That way each kiddos can easily grab from each basket of food groups or snacks and pack their own lunches.
This way it also gives them a little independence and responsibility to make choices for themselves… A win – win!
A lot of work goes into school readiness (which mostly found in our kitchen) and using these simple ideas goes a long way!
Lastly, I hang a calendar on our fridge where we all can make additions as plans are made. That way it is accessible to everyone and there are no major surprises throughout the days.
And speaking of kitchens, you may have noticed a little (or big) change! Our floors have been updated with Lumber Liquidators and we are enjoying it already so much!
You can see all the prep that went into this last week…
Of course there was a game of musical appliances as everything got moved around!
And messes everywhere in between all the work…
But we are so happy with the results! Our kiddos are pretty thrilled too ;)… It makes all this back to school prep even more exciting. The flooring is EVP CoreLuxe from Lumber Liquidators and the color is Sandbridge Oak. Please note, there are still quite a few updates coming (this flooring is making its way into the sunroom soon) and this is just a peek at the space as it is evolving. Please make sure to check back in the next month or so as the rest comes together, I cannot wait to share!
A big thank you to Lumber Liquidators for supplying this flooring for our project!
