Last week I shared how I planned to make some modern updates to our home using some accent furniture pieces (here). I could hardly wait, so I made a trip to Ikea where I always find some of my favorite things for the home (post here) and bought these stools…
I knew I wanted some sleeker more modern pieces that would break up some of the look I had created in our home. I wanted to mix it up and am loving the change.
I think they are just what the kitchen needed; they balance the curves, chippy tables and in general the farmhouse/industrial style that have found their place in our home.

As I continue to make a couple simple changes, I will also plan to share what I know about mixing styles in general.
The stools were budget friendly (luckily, I was in the market with some birthday money) and I couldn’t believe how comfortable they were. They seem to easily support your back.
Not only budget friendly, but kid friendly too! They wipe right up. Even though I would love some pretty upholstered chairs – we are obviously in a daily milk spilling kind of season, so that kind off pretty is off limits for us right now =).
As always, I seem to be reminded of a lesson from the things made, crafted, or decorated in my home and this little chair swap provided one none the less. It just goes to show that change and going outside your comfort zone can very well yield rewarding results and can cause you to look at things differently. You never know what you may get or how you will ultimately feel about it, but it is can be exciting to try.
Thank you for stopping by and stay tuned for some fun things ahead this week!
(Disclaimer – I was not compensated to share my opinion on these stools – these are my own opinions and I wanted to share them with you).
These are great – and I think it’s so true, sometimes it feels great to get out of the box of comfort! Love this modern update Annie!
Lovely kitchen! Love the Velveteen Rabbit sign, and the pots wrapped in brown paper on the island. I’d like to know about the wooden board on the counter just barely peeking through in the background. It looks like it may be personalized with Zevy Joy?
Hi Shawn, thank you so much! And yes it is personalized with zevy joy – I love it. It was a gift and it is Our Board Boutique – you can find them at www. OurBoardBoutique.etsy.com
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Hi- You did a beautiful job. Can you tell me where you found the kitchen island? thank you!!
Hi Barb, thank you so much! We actually found the base on Craigslist and made the top with Marble tiles.
Thanks for the info. Congrats on a beautiful job!
