Decorating for Christmas on a Budget!

Hi sweet friends! I am going to be sharing more and more Christmas on here with a little bit of other stuff mixed in as well =)… I am so excited to enjoy our first Christmas in this home! Today I am sharing some ways to decorate for Christmas on a budget. We are in the middle of our kitchen renovation, so spending money on other things is just not a priority right now. Instead I am choosing to not buy much of anything new decor wise this holiday season. And as I show just how I am doing this, I am also joining my friend Kristen at Ella Claire & Co. as we give some fun budget friendly Christmas ideas…

More than any other tip that I mention on here, the biggest piece of advice I can give for decorating on a budget is finding ways to repurpose. That is the key!

For example, I use the same garland year after year for my mantels. This year I had one that I had been storing, yet not using. It had lots of gold embellishments on it that just weren’t my style. So I simply cut them off and now I have this lush green garland to enjoy at no extra cost!

For my garland, I like to twist a variety of garlands together to make one big one. I also make sure to incorporate some stems. You will see that I stick picks or stems into the corners of my garland or dangle them from the center. This gives the garland great movement.

This year berries have found their way into our decor (another repurposed piece of greenery).

Another great idea is to make your own high end decorations like my most recent project here of sleigh bells.

Candles can get used over and over again. They are elegant and can be bought at a variety of price points.

Doorbell hangers with bells can instead be used as a centerpiece in a tray of greens.

My sheepskin and heavy textures come out this time of year. They get used over and over again.

Vintage art found thrifting or antiquing is an inexpensive way to up the character.

Lastly, adding picks to your Christmas tree is a wonderful way to update your tree without buying a new one.

I had some extra picks on hand that when added to the tree made it feel fresh or more alive looking! I can’t wait to decorate it =). Even though this is just the beginning of my decor and I will be adding to it as time goes on… Basic greens are a gorgeous way to decorate without needing extra ornaments and more. It is a fantastic option when you need to be careful with money.

Wow, that garland looks stunning with the blue berries! I love the way you draped it across the front and down the one side of the fireplace. I never thought to combine more than one garland together. Thanks for the tip – I always look forward to your ideas!
