Hello friends and hope that you have had a good week so far! I am a part of a special event today called the Thankful to bHome Blog Tour with some talented and lovely friends. Make sure to enjoy the entire tour linked below as well as some details on how to enter a generous giveaway too!
When thinking about Thanksgiving, gratefulness, entertaining and all things home, I immediately thought about sharing this recipe for a couple reasons.
I love baking during the holiday season and finding simple ways to put a twist on everyday recipes.
These cranberry cinnamon rolls are just that… They exude Thanksgiving food with the cranberries and the cinnamon, but my favorite part of all was the process. Here is how you can make them too.
You will need: refrigerated and premade cinnamon rolls (this could also be done from scratch), cranberry sauce (recipe here), orange (for zest) and icing (this was a part of my cinnamon roll package).
First, unroll the sheet of dough (this is usually sold in tubes found in the refrigerator section of your grocery store).
Next spread on a thin layer of the cranberry sauce. Almost as if you are making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Carefully roll the dough back up.
And now slice the dough so that you have your small rolls.
Follow the baking directions. I spread mine out in a glass pie pan as seen above, then set it in the oven.
And then wait….
My sweet girl helped me with this dish and that was the biggest reason this recipe made me think of thanksgiving. If you have been visiting with me for awhile then you know how hard we worked to get here so I could stay home with the kids. It really was a dream come true the day I quit my job to be with them. It was scary to give up the financial stability etc… but it was the best thing I ever did.
Everything that came after was just a complete surprise. We worried about what we would have financially, could we make it and how would we do it. But instead we had, we do have so much more. It is in the little things like baking together, folding laundry and most importantly the time. It is not for everyone but it is for me and this makes my heart beat. Through it all I have had the complete joy of sharing it with you and for that I am grateful. Thankful for the time with my babes, thankful for this imperfect place we call home and thankful for the journey.
So as we finished up our baking I am reminded of all these things. We pulled our rolls out and drizzled the icing atop. Not forgetting to sprinkle with orange zest too.
We dusted some cranberries with sugar for a decorative finish (these will need to be removed once it is time to eat the rolls).
I hope you liked this easy recipe and let me know if you end up trying it out.
Thank you for letting me share why it is meaningful to me as I am so happy to have you here.
