6 Easy Fall DIY Projects and Ideas!
Fall is a season of cozy warmth, vibrant colors, and creative inspiration. As the leaves change and the air grows crisp, it’s the perfect time to refresh your home decor with some easy and festive DIY projects.
Here are six of my favorite, simple ideas that will help you bring the beauty and charm of autumn into your living space.
1. Spray Painted Leaves: A Touch of Elegance
Spray-painted leaves are an effortless way to elevate the natural beauty of fall foliage. By adding a layer of muted or vibrant-colored spray paint to faux leaves, you can create stunning decorative accents that capture the essence of autumn. These leaves can be used in a variety of ways—scattered across your dining table as part of a centerpiece, placed in a decorative bowl, or incorporated into a fall wreath. The muted sheen or bold colors add a touch of elegance and modernity to the traditional fall palette, making these leaves a versatile element in your seasonal decor.
For this particular project, I went with a plum color and you can find all the directions here.
2. Painted Buffalo Check Doormat: A Cozy Welcome
Buffalo check is a classic pattern that embodies the cozy and rustic feel of fall. A painted buffalo check doormat is an easy DIY project that adds a welcoming touch to your front porch or entryway. By transforming a plain coir doormat with this timeless pattern, you can create a stylish and inviting entrance to your home. The black and white squares of the buffalo check pattern contrast beautifully with the autumnal surroundings, making this doormat a perfect way to greet guests with the warmth and charm of the season. This can easily be done in any custom color palette though and is such a great way to personalize your decor!
I need to make another version of this DIY doormat soon!
3. Eucalyptus Wreath: Natural Beauty with a Calming Scent
Eucalyptus wreaths are a beautiful and fragrant addition to any fall decor. The muted green and silver tones of eucalyptus leaves provide a soft, natural backdrop that pairs well with the vibrant colors of autumn. A eucalyptus wreath is not only visually appealing but also brings a soothing, earthy aroma into your home. This wreath can be customized with additional fall accents like pinecones, berries, or small pumpkins, making it a versatile and enduring piece that enhances the seasonal atmosphere of any room.
I made this wreath with real eucalyptus, but you could always use faux instead if you prefer!
4. Iron-On Spider Pillow: A Subtle Halloween Statement
For those who enjoy adding a bit of spooky flair to their fall decor, an iron-on spider pillow offers a stylish and subtle way to celebrate Halloween. This DIY project involves applying a spider applique or a heat transfer design to a plain throw pillow cover, transforming it into a festive yet understated accent piece. The result is a decorative pillow that adds a hint of Halloween without overwhelming your space, making it a perfect addition to your sofa, bed, or favorite chair during the fall season.
I don’t do a ton of Halloween decor, but I have found I tend to gravitate to the spooky insects and rodents, pumpkins for getting festive. This pillow was the perfect project for that!
5. Moody Floral Arrangement: Dark and Dramatic Elegance
Moody floral arrangements are a sophisticated way to bring the rich, dark colors of fall into your home. These arrangements typically feature deep-hued flowers like burgundy dahlias, dark purple roses, or crimson mums, paired with dried branches, twigs, and lush greenery. The combination of dark florals and natural elements creates a dramatic, elegant display that can serve as a striking centerpiece on your dining table, mantel, or entryway. A moody floral arrangement embodies the rich, textured beauty of fall, adding depth and character to your seasonal decor.
This specific floral arrangement had some of our garden grown blue flowers, I really loved the contrast with the darker tones!
6. Fall Napkin Print with Ribbon: Elegant Table Settings
Elevate your fall dining experience with custom-printed napkins and ribbon accents. This DIY project involves adding fall-themed prints, such as leaves, words or pumpkins, to thick card stock paper. Once printed, the napkins are tied with satin or grosgrain ribbons in coordinating colors, creating a polished and elegant look for your table settings. These custom napkins accessories add a personal touch to your fall gatherings, making them perfect for holiday dinners or casual meals with family and friends.
Pink is not always the color I think of when thinking of fall, but in the right combination it is such a pretty and unexpected pairing! These napkin prints were made to highlight the fresh colors of autumn.
These six easy fall DIY projects offer creative ways to bring the warmth, beauty, and charm of the season into your home. Whether you’re adding a colorful touch to natural leaves, crafting a welcoming buffalo check doormat, or creating a moody floral arrangement, each project allows you to embrace the spirit of autumn in your decor.
By incorporating natural elements like eucalyptus and using rich, seasonal colors and textures, you can transform your living space into a cozy and inviting retreat that reflects the essence of fall. These projects are simple yet impactful, making them perfect for anyone looking to refresh their home decor and celebrate the season. So gather your supplies, get creative, and enjoy the process of making your home feel even more warm and festive this autumn!
