Candied Sweet Potatoes – A Christmas Family Favorite Dish
How To Make a Family Favorite, Candied Sweet Potatoes!
Recipe For Candied Sweet Potatoes!
With Christmas right around the corner it is so fun to think about all the delicious food to be enjoyed! One specific treat that my family especially loved is candied sweet potatoes. I am not sure if it is the creamy sweet potatoes, the spices or the toasted marshmallows that really makes this dish… Or everything combined together! I am joining Kristen from Ella Claire & Co. as we all show our favorite family recipes for this time of year.
This recipe is so easy to throw together! You will need (this is for a smaller portion – like this 6×9 one pictured above) you can double the recipe to make it for a bigger crowd)
- 2 cans of sweet potatoes
- 1 cup of chopped walnuts (this amount can be adjusted depending on your preference, some people love extra)
- 1 cup of marshmallows (again this is a preference if you like every inch covered or only most of it)
- 1 tbsp. of pumpkin pie spice
- 1/4 cup of coconut sugar and more for sprinkling on top
- Zest of an entire large orange
This recipe comes together in minutes… You will simply mix the spice, the coconut sugar and sweet potatoes all together.
Then you layer the mixture into the pan and sprinkle extra coconut sugar atop. Load on the chopped walnuts. Put this into the oven and bake for about 20 minutes until it is warm throughout.
Finish the dish off by topping with marshmallows. You will put this back into the oven and continue to let it bake until the marshmallows are golden.
Things should be nice and bubbly when the dish is complete. Bring it out to cool and enjoy once ready!
